Arvin A. Christensen, age 84, of Grand Meadow died Friday April 28, 2017 at Spring Valley Senior Living in Spring Valley, MN

Arvin “Chris” Christensen the son of Andrew and Marie (Jensen) Christensen was born July 9th, 1932 at Rutland, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rutland and graduated high school from Gilmore City, IA in 1950. After graduation he served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Carman on December 26th 1953 in Rutland, IA and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage this past December.  In 1955 the couple moved to Grand Meadow, MN where they farmed all of his life.

 Arvin was an avid baseball fan and played semi-pro baseball after high school and continued playing for the Grand Meadow American Legion. He also loved music; had a beautiful voice, and passed his love of singing onto his daughters who sang to him up until his final hours.

Arvin is survived by his wife Dorothy and son Kirk of Grand Meadow, daughters Carmen (Brian) Douglas of Eagan, MN, Lisa (John) Miller of Zumbrota, MN and Susan (Chad) Wichmann of Maple Grove, MN. Grandchildren: Kevin (Lindsay) Welle, Kira Welle,  Ross Miller (Tiffany), Nolan Miller, Geena Miller, Addison Maass and six step-grandchildren. Arvin is also survived by a sister: Lucille (Donald) Weydert of Gilmore City, IA.   He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lyn and a son, Scott.

Funeral services for Arvin Christensen will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Grand Meadow Lutheran Church in Grand Meadow with Rev Beth Krolak officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Monday May 1, 2017 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and will continue for 1 hr prior to the service on Tuesday.
