David Donald Burr was born October 1, 1959 in Cresco, Iowa to Donald and Lucy Burr. Dave passed away on October 21, 2015 in Chester, Virginia.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, IA 52136 with graveside service to follow at New Oregon Cemetery with Pastor Kayla Lange officiating.
Dave attended Crestwood high school and graduated in 1978. While at Crestwood, he participated in sports and lettered in both football and wrestling. Following high school, he went to Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. He studied Industrial Education and was active in both football and wrestling. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984.
Following college, he moved to Atlanta, GA, where he worked in various industrial manufacturing jobs. He then transferred to Chester, Virginia where he has resided for the past 13 years.
Dave enjoyed many diverse activities such as power lifting, cooking, poker, precision metal work, ornamental knives and target shooting with rifles. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Vikings and a good cigar.
David is survived by his mother, Lucy Burr, brothers Rick (Patti) and Larry (Bonnie) of Cresco, and sister, Donna Burr of Bloomington, Minnesota. One niece, Katie Burr, and a great-nephew, Jaxson Meiners, both of Cresco. David was preceded in death by his father Donald, and two brothers, Jerry and Dan.
