Deborah S. “Deb” Lewis, age 63, of Chester, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at Cresco Community Chapel, Cresco, IA with Pastor Mike Simiele officiating. Burial will be held in Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga, IA. Visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Cresco Community Chapel. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time of the service Monday at the church. The Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 N Elm Street Cresco, IA is assisting the family.
Deborah Sue Becker was born on January 21, 1953, daughter of Merritt and Beatrice (Kippen) Becker in Cadillac, MI. She was a 1971 graduate of Lake City High School in Lake City, MI. On April 5, 1975, Deb married Michael “Mike” Lewis at the United Methodist Church in Lake City, MI. Together they raised a family and farmed in the rural Chester, IA area. Deb was very devoted to her faith and was active in her church. She volunteered her time during Vacation Bible School and AWANA at Cresco Community Chapel. Deb was a wonderful homemaker who liked gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She was a very hard worker and had a very infectious smile that she was known for. She was famous for making a delicious cherry rhubarb crunch. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent many summer nights camping with family and friends. Throughout the years Deb created many quilting projects, and DIY projects receiving inspiration from HGTV. Deb’s greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren. She always surrounded them with her unconditional love.
Surviving Deb is her husband Mike of Chester, IA, son Josh (Stephanie) Lewis of Le Roy, MN, and their children Anne, Maia, Gracie, Landon, Joshua, and baby boy Lewis, daughter Kelly (Jason) Kleopfer of Riverside, IA, and their children Adelynn, Tristan, Zackary, and Emma, daughter Kari (Luke) Lidtke of Cresco, IA, and their children Hunter, Aliyah, and Alivia, mother Beatrice Becker of Lake City, MI, brother Greg of Lake City, MI, 3 sisters Robin (Mark) Zagers of Cadillac, MI, Linda (Mike) Cole of McBain, MI, and Kim (Tim) Mills of Parksley, VA, and her mother-in-law Waneta Lewis of Riceville, IA.
Preceding Deb was her father Merritt, granddaughter Beatrice Lewis, sister Pat (Dave) Jenema, and father-in-law Virgil Lewis.
In memory of Deb memorials may be given to the local chapter of Hospice of Cresco, Iowa.
