Genevieve Ann Buker, age 92, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Maundy Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Hawkeye Care Center - Cresco.

A memorial Mass, with a Rosary and visitation preceding the services, was held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, with Father Dennis Cain officiating.  Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, Iowa.  Family and friends gathered for lunch at the Notre Dame Hall after the services.

Genevieve was born in Howard County on February 26, 1925 as the youngest daughter to William and Mary Ann (Malek) Hyke.  The family lived in rural Lourdes, Iowa, where the family attended the Lourdes parish church, and Genevieve and her siblings attended the parish school.

After her marriage to William B. Hruska, the couple became the parents of two children, Bernice May Ollendieck and James W. Hruska.

Always a hard-working person, Genevieve loved the country life that included gardening, canning, baking, cooking, and caring for the animals.  She was always willing to give a helping hand to others.  Her greatest, longtime hobby was quilting, and, until recently, she was making special quilts for her family to serve as remembrances of her.

Surviving Genevieve Ann Buker is one brother, Charles (Beverly - deceased) Hyke of Waterloo, Iowa; her daughter, Bernice (Donald - deceased) Ollendieck of Cresco; her son, James W. Hruska of Missouri, formerly of Cresco; ten grandchildren, Patrick D. (Mar) Ollendieck, Donna Daniel; Julie (Todd Smith) Ristau; Craig W. (Laurie) Ollendieck; Kirk J. (Melody) Ollendieck, and Andrew J. Ollendieck, all of Cresco, Iowa; Eric (Becky) Hruska, Shelly Hruska, Melissa (Anthony) Faught, and Melinda (Chris) Baker, all of Missouri; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren from both Iowa and Missouri plus many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Genevieve in death were William B. Hruska; Loren Buker; her parents; four brothers, Benjamin (Eleanor) Hyke, Leonard (Mayme) Hyke, William (Alice) Hyke, Jr., and Clem (Elsie) Hyke, and three sisters, Agnes (Albert) Hallman (Michael) Driscoll, Mary Jane (Leeman) Hudson, and Clara (Thomas) McKeown; a son-in-law, Donald Ollendieck; two grandsons, Nathan Hruska and Brian Hruska, and one granddaughter, Bernadine Ollendieck.
