Lester G. Lentz, age 88, of LeRoy, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at
his home surrounded by his loving family.
Lester was born on May 12, 1928, to Gordon and Violet (Blume) Lentz in
Mankato, MN. He attended school in Good Thunder, MN. On November 14, 1951,
Lester was united in marriage to Evelyn Bunde at St Teresa Catholic Church in
Mapleton, MN. He was employed at Mongeau Grain Elevator in Good Thunder for
20 years. Lester played drums in Freddie’s Concertina Band in Eagle Lake, MN,
for 15 years. He was a former member of Good Thunder City Council, served as
trustee for St Joseph’s Catholic Church for 14 years, and chaired the parade for
Pioneer Indian Days for 6 years.
In 1973 Lester and Evelyn and family moved to LeRoy, MN where they farmed and
resided for 20 years. Upon retirement in 1992 Lester and Evelyn moved to town.
Lester was a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy where he served
as an usher. For 12 years he delivered meals on wheels in the community. Lester
continued his enjoyment of music by playing with the Country Plowboys in
Austin, MN for 10 years. His hobbies included playing guitar, making wooden
toys, fishing, camping, traveling on bus trips and taking pride in always driving a
clean car.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, five children, Dorothy Lentz (Lenny Vigesaa) of
Stewartville MN, Virginia Harvey of Mazeppa, MN, Vernon (Diane) of Stewartville,
MN, Patricia (Eric) Sas of Edgerton, MN and Christopher of LeRoy, MN; 9 grandchildren,
Brandon Logemann, Shannon (Andrew) Clemenson, Kyle and
Dillon Harvey, Brittany and Zachary Vigesaa, Ethan, Caden and Micah Sas; and
one great grandchild; George Clemenson. He is also survived by 2 siblings;
Harlan Lentz of Good Thunder, MN and Vivian (Gene) Ziegler of Rapidan, MN. He
was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lawrence, Wilton and an infant
brother, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn.

choice.
