Mary K. Hosek

Mary K. Hosek, 79, of Elma, IA, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home Cresco, Iowa. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery Lourdes, Iowa, at a later date.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco, IA.

Mary Kathryn Rothmeyer was born on May 25, 1938, in Fort Atkinson, IA, daughter of Florian and Kathryn (Backes) Rothmeyer.  She attended and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Cresco.  In 1969, Mary married James Edward Sr. in Cresco, IA.  During her working life Mary managed Casey’s General Store.  Mary was known for making delicious Sunday dinners.  Her door was always open for family and friends to come over and enjoy her cooking.  When she wasn’t busy in the kitchen, Mary liked to read, work on crossword puzzles, watch birds and old movies, and garden.  She also enjoyed gambling where she could relax and do her thing.  Most of all Mary loved her family.  Her pride and joy was spending time with her granddaughter Cassie. 

Mary is survived by her daughter Lori (fiancé Roger Wolf) Hosek of Rochester, MN, Jim Jr. (Wendy) Hosek, granddaugher Cassie Hosek all of Elma, IA, brother Richard (Lu) Rothmeyer of Bellingham, Washington, sisters Norma (Norbert) Holschbach of Belgium, Wisconsin, and Alice Elfner of Virginia, and brother-in-law Elias Zweibahmer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim Hosek, brothers Jerry Rothmeyer, Kenny Rothmeyer, and Dale Rothmeyer, and sister Dorothy Zwiebahmer.
