Reuben R. Praska

Reuben R. Praska, age 92, of Cresco, IA, died Friday, January 29, 2016, at Hawkeye Care Center in Cresco, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery Protivin, IA.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 123 North Main Street, Protivin, Iowa 52163, with a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the time of service Monday at the church.

Reuben Rudolph Praska was born on September 6, 1923, son of William and Rose (Riha) Praska on the home farm in Howard County, Iowa.  On November 8, 1949, Reuben married Matilda Malek at Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco, IA.  Reuben loved his working life of farming the land with his John Deere farm machinery.  Every Sunday he enjoyed playing euchre with his family and friends.  He liked watching wrestling and game shows.  Reuben could be found with a twinkle in his eye whenever he spent time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They brought an abundance of joy to his life. 

Surviving Reuben is his daughter, Diane (Michael) Schmitt of Cresco and their children, Scott (Emily) Schmitt, Gregory (Sara) Schmitt, Kimberly (Kevin) Ryan, and Kristi (Adam) Ytzen, daughter, Janice (Denis) Lansing of Cresco and their children, Timothy (Missy) Lansing, Jeffrey Lansing, Jill (Kenny) Wicker, and Lisa (Dan) Lopez, son, Ronald Praska of Cresco, and 13 great grandchildren, Hannah, Paige, Claire, Grace, Bella, Nora, Harper, Jayda, Logan, Ashley, Brandon, Connor, and Blake.

Preceding him in death is his parents, William and Rose, wife, Matilda on February 13, 2004, and brother, Richard (Celesta) Praska.
