Faith Hall Obituary

Faith Emmaline Lawler-Hall, age 89, was called home March 13, 2024, at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA.  She was born August 12, 1934 to Theodore Lawler and Anne (Postle) Lawler in Linton, North Dakota.  Faith grew up on a cattle ranch outside Linton during the Great Depression.  She started helping her father with cattle at the age of 4.  She would relate how her father would send her out during snow storms to look for lost cattle or help with angry bulls while on horseback.  Faith was especially close to her father, preferring to ride the range instead of doing work in the house.  She attended country school along with her older brother; they would ride across fields on horseback to get to school.

Faith later finished her studies at Linton High School. She stayed in town during the winter months since her parents’ farm was 20 miles from town and there were no school buses at that time.  At the age of 21, Faith married Paul Hall and moved to Decorah, Iowa, where they had 3 children: Kerry Baker, Tracy and Troy Hall.  They then moved to Cresco, IA, where she remained until her death. She worked at Jack and Jill Grocery in the meat department for 40 years, retiring at 70 years old.  She was a homebody and great cook.  Faith enjoyed her cats, grandchildren, her rock gardens, reading, and going to antique shows and stores.

She is survived by 2 children Kerry and Troy of Cresco, IA, grandchildren Tom Hall, Emma Baker-Tripp, Alix Hall, Lydia and Sarah Baker, and 2 great-grandchildren Theodore Hall and Jaceigh Hall.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Anne Lawler, husband Paul, nephew Tom Triggs, niece Jamie Triggs, and siblings Dolly Triggs, Sally Grenz, and Ted Lawler Jr.  Lastly, her son Tracy, who was her world and she is with now.  Peace by you, mom.
