Allan "Al" Austin

Funeral services for Allan Austin will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday October 5, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, MN with Pastor Betsy Dartt and Pastor Mark VanHouse officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 P.M. on Thursday October 4, 2018 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Allan Austin, age 82, formerly of Spring Valley and Harmony died September 30, 2018 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, MN.

Allan Duane Austin was born July1, 1936 in Canton, MN to Oscar G. and Helma J. (Gulbranson) Austin. He attended and graduated from Canton High School in 1954. Following high school he attended Winona State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1958. On October 15, 1966 he was united in marriage to Marcia Raye Hammes in Spring Valley, MN. Allan worked as a banker for Home Federal, a teacher in Rushford and St Charles, a real estate salesman and a real estate appraiser for 30 years.

Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching any Minnesota sports team whether it was the Vikings, Twins, or Gophers. Allan was a friend of Bill W. for 40 years and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley for many years.

Allan is survived by his three daughters: Shelley Austin of Minneapolis, MN, Jodi (Marty) Austin-Thompson of Rochester, MN and Cynthia (Tim) Donaldson of Dodge Center, MN. 8 grandchildren: Meg (Alex) Olson, Annie Goerdt, Jocelyn Austin, Mikayla Austin, Bradyn Donaldson, Hannah Thompson, AJ Thompson and Nolan Thompson, 1 great-granddaughter: Hadleigh Austin, a sister Joyce Jacobson of Harmony, MN and brothers and sisters in law: Robert and Pat Pierce and Paul and Helen Tangen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marcia in 2004, and a brother George.
