Allen D. Rieken

Allen Rieken, age 60, of Grand Meadow, MN passed away peacefully Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial service for Allen Rieken will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow with Rev. Marie Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11-1 P.M. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow.

Allen Dean Rieken was born July 1, 1957 in Austin, MN the son of Melvin and Laura (Schmidt) Rieken. He grew up in Grand Meadow. On November 3, 1979 Allen was united in marriage to Brenda Alden in Austin, MN; they enjoyed 38 wonderful years together. Allen spent many years as an over the road truck driver. He and his son, Erin, spent countless hours together in the garage. When he wasn’t in the garage he would pass the time mowing and snow blowing. Allen loved spending time with his dogs Rusty, Rocky, and Windsor.

Allen is survived by his wife Brenda of Grand Meadow; one son Erin Rieken of Lyle, MN; two brothers Larry Harvey of Lake City, MN and Jim Rieken of Stewartville, MN; two sisters Betty Harvey of Fort Wayne, IN and Marilyn Radloff of Grand Meadow, MN; and many nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Claire and Kevin.

The family would like to thank the staff at Austin Mayo Hospice for the care they provided Allen with over the last few weeks.
