Erlyss Adele (Vake) Grimm

Erlyss Grimm, age 75, of Cannon Falls passed away Tuesday May 1, 2018 at St. Mary’s campus in Rochester, MN surrounded by her family.

Memorial Service for Erlyss Grimm will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday May 6, 2018 at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, MN with Rev. Randy Fett and Rev. Willie Grimm officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 P.M. Sunday prior to the service at the church.

Erlyss Adele Vake was born April 15, 1943 in Oklee, MN to Gunder and Hannah (Erickson) Vake. She attended and graduated from Chisholm High School in 1961 where she was active in basketball, swimming and serving as a lifeguard. After graduation, Erlyss attended school at Crown Institute of business and Technology obtaining a degree in data entry and training on the IBM key punch machine. She later worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA for a short time before returning to Chisholm. On September 3, 1966 she was united in marriage to Larry Grimm at Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm. In 1968 they moved to Cannon Falls where Erlyss worked at Sheldahl in Northfield and then at Cannon Falls Beacon.

She enjoyed camping in their motorhome, fishing, flowers, and bowling.  Erlyss loved playing board games and card games with her grandchildren and friends.

Erlyss is survived by her husband Larry of Cannon Falls, MN; sons: Willie (Carmen) Grimm of Rochester, MN and Corey (Stephanie) Grimm of Elk River, MN; 4 grandchildren: Cora, Ava, Wyatt, and Weston; and a sister Ione Tomasetti of Chisholm, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy, and brother-in-law Tony.
