Funeral services for Glenna M. Vikse will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday June 7, 2019 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with pastor Mark VanHouse and Pastor Betsy Dartt officiating. Burial will be in the Ostrander Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 P.M. on Thursday June 6, 2019 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for 1hr prior to the service at the church.
Glenna Marie Vikse, age 84, of Spring Valley died Saturday June 1st, 2019 at Ostrander Care and Rehab after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born June 10, 1934 in Grand Meadow, MN where she attended and graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1952. On August 29, 1953 she was united in marriage to Darrell Vikse at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Racine. Glenna was a homemaker and raised 6 children on the family farm, she then taught Head Start for 17 years before retiring. She loved to attend her children and grand-children’s sporting events, she was even able to attend some of her great-grandchildren’s events. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley where she taught Sunday school and was a member of WELCA. She loved to visit with shut-ins and people in nursing homes. Glenna enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, and spending time with family. She was very proud of her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Glenna is survived by her husband Darrell, Spring Valley; sons Mike (Donnette) Vikse and Mark Vikse of Spring Valley, Monty (Laura) Vikse of Mukwonago, WI; daughters, Melodi Wood of Kasson, Michelle (Doug) Plaehn of Spring Valley and Melissa Vikse of Preston; twelve grand-children, Danielle (Ryan) Sexton, Trista (Keith) Tieskotter, Jenni (Terry) Ackman, Tara (Jason) Post, LeAnn (Josh) Raveill, Brittany Vikse, Aaron Vikse, Brett Wood, Mitchell Plaehn, Marcus Plaehn, Jacob Vikse, and Gabe Vikse. Fourteen great-grandchildren, a brother Darrell (Sharon) Jacobson of Henrietta, TX and a sister Donna (Ted) Rahlf of Rochester. She is also survived by several nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
