Jeane L. Felderman, age 91, of Dubuque, IA, died Saturday, October 29, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.

Jeane Lee Henkel was born on March 28, 1925, daughter of Lee and Helen (Genszler) Henkel in Dubuque, Iowa.  She was a Dubuque Senior High School graduate.  On October 14, 1944, during a candle light ceremony Jeane married Merle Joseph Felderman at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The couple honeymooned in Chicago at the Edgewater Beach Hotel.

Jeane’s life focused on her husband, family, and home.  She was a devoted wife and mother, who treated her husband, children and grandchildren like precious jewels.  She took great pride in creating a lovely home and flower garden, maintaining a successful career and valued keeping in touch with family and friends.  Attention to detail was one of her many attributes. She exhibited a unique flare in everything she did, including her artwork, fashion, and cooking.  She was a genuine friend to all and had a witty sense of humor. One of her favorite places to vacation was a family resort in Tomahawk, WI.  Hobbies included reading, playing cards, sewing, listening to music and watching movies. Christmas was especially meaningful to Jeane. She delighted in the season as it was a time for loved ones to gather and embrace family traditions.

Surviving Jeane is her husband of 72 years Merle of Dubuque, IA; son Richard  (Shirley) Lake Mary, FL; daughters Connie (Garry) Knight; Melbourne, Australia, Susan Hudek; Dubuque, IA, and Patti (Jim) Meyer; Bettendorf, IA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren with one on the way.  Brothers Bob Henkel; Dubuque, Dick (Judy) Henkel; Dubuque, Chuck (Pitsie) Henkel; Harrah, OK, and Jim (Madonna) Henkel; Grinnell, IA, sisters Joy White; Dubuque, Sandra (Wayne) Fox; Mission, TX, Marion Brade; Dubuque, and many relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter Vickie Lee Felderman; granddaughter Abigail Jeane Meyer; sisters Helen “Lonnie” Henkel, Gail Schmidt; and brother Lee “Butch” Henkel.

Jeane’s family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to all who touched her life.
