Katheryn Stanger

Katheryn Alice (Rurup) Stanger passed away peacefully December 10, 2018 at Adams Health Care Center in Adams, MN where she was a resident since June. Prior she lived at Wildwood Grove in LeRoy, MN since 2008.

Katheryn was born July 20, 1918 at Trimont, MN to Bessie (Everts) and Broder Rurup. She grew up in Colfax, ND and moved to Ingram, WI where she was engaged in housework. On January 3, 1940, she married Frank Stanger in Decorah, IA. They farmed in Ladysmith, WI until 1952 when they moved to LeRoy, MN.

After her family left home, she worked for LPC for many years and worked for the Bothun family for 21 years mainly preparing their meals and helping with other things they needed. She loved sewing and made her own and children’s clothing in addition to sewing for others. In later years, she enjoyed helping with quilting at LeRoy Lutheran Church, where she was a member, and made many quilts for her family members.

Katheryn is survived by daughters Priscilla Stanger of Cameron, WI and Colleen McMillan of Fairbanks, AK; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Weishaar of Algona, IA, Gladys Nelson of Fargo, ND, and brother Robert (Donna) Rurup of Hewitt, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, sons LeRoy and Darius, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.

No services are planned with a burial at a later date.
