Mary Alice Plummer Dotzenrod Ness, age 96, passed away December 25, 2017 at the Spring Valley Senior Center.
Mary Alice was born September 17, 1921 to Glennfield & Blanche Plummer in Etna. She was raised in rural Spring Valley and graduated from the Etna Minnesota School.
On June 1, 1941, Mary and Alvin Edward Dotzenrod were united in marriage. They made their home in Spring Valley and had two children. Alvin passed on June 28, 1949. On June 11, 1957, Mary and Herbert Oliver Ness were united in marriage and made their home in rural Cherry Grove. Herb passed on January 23, 1998. In 2001 Mary moved to her Spring Valley town home where she resided until death.
Mary was a head cook in the Spring Valley school, Cub Scout Leader and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, writing poems, assembling puzzles, crocheting, cooking, sewing, indoor and outdoor gardening, family gatherings, Etna Club, playing cards, visiting with friends, family gatherings and was a member of Cherry Grove United Methodist Church and ladies circle.
Survivors include:
One daughter, Carolyn Dotzenrod of LaCrosse, Wisconsin;
Daughter-in-law, Joan (late Curtiss) Dotzenrod of Racine, Minnesota,
grand-daughter Allison (Jesse) Coyle of Maple Grove, Minnesota;
Step-family of late Herb Ness: Step-daughter-in-law Karen (late Loaine) Dornink of Marengo, Illinois, one step-granddaughter Kim (Rick) Johnson and family; one step-grandson (late Brian) and family.
Mary was predeceased by her parents (Glennfield & Blanche Plummer), two husbands (Alvin Dotzenrod & Herb Ness), one brother (Stanley Plummer) and two sisters (Myrna VanGrevenhof Vreeman, Helen TerBeest), son (Curtiss Dotzenrod), one step-son (Loaine Dornink) and one step-grandson (Brian Dornink).
Visitation will be one hour before the 11am service on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church, 617 Maple Lane in Spring Valley, Minnesota with Pastor Deanna Woodward officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Valley Cemetery.
