Mary Winkels

Mary  Winkels, 83, of Le Roy, MN, died on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society-Comforcare in Austin, MN. 

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Le Roy, MN, with Fr. Marreddy Pothireddy officiating.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery Le Roy.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Le Roy with a Rosary being recited at 5.p.m.  Visitation will continue for an hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary  Carey was born on July 4, 1933, in Austin, MN to Horace and Cecelia (Thome) Carey.  She graduated from Columbus High School “Pacelli High School” in Austin.  On September 20, 1956, Mary married Marvin Winkels at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin and together they farmed in the  Le Roy area. Mary enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and expressed her caring and concern by always sending cards and notes to those she cared about. She was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church, was a member of the alter society and also taught C.C.D. classes for many years.  

She is survived by her husband Marvin of Le Roy; 5 boys David Winkels of Rochester, MN, Joe (Patti) Winkels of Kasson, MN, Michael (Kathy) Winkels of Rochester, MN, John (Barb) Winkels of Alden, IA, and Tom Winkels of Riceville, IA, her daughter Maria (Todd) Ladwig of Earlham, IA; 23 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Charlene Young of Austin, MN, Rose Mary (Keith) Price of Rose Creek, MN, Cecelia (Tom) Winjum of Albert Lea, MN; and her brother David (Mary) Carey of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Wildwood Grove in Le Roy, MN
