Melody Ann Ballay of Grand Meadow, MN passed away at 7 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Mayo Clinic- St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.
Melody, a true southern belle and Saints fan, was born July 16, 1945 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana to Hewitt John Ballay Sr. and Grace May (Hingle) Ballay. Melody was a woman full of color and joy. She was blessed to be able to travel the world. Her true passion though, was family. Melody especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Melody was loved by all that knew her. She had a great sense of humor, and was quick to make whomever laugh. Family time and gatherings brought Melody the most joy in her life. Melody’s smile and laughter will be greatly missed.
Melody is survived by her spouse Kim Portz of Grand Meadow, children Toki Martin and daughter-in-law Tammy Martin of Slidell, LA, John Roy Martin of Fort Wayne, IN, Manette Black of Stewartville, MN, and Aaron Martin of Grand Meadow, grandchildren Savanna, Austin, Zander, Morgan, Seth, Theresa, Ashley, David Jr., and Caleb, and two great-granddaughters Aubrey and Julia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Memorial Services for Melody will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at United Church of Grand Meadow with Pastor Jon Marburger officiating. Visitation will be held from 11-12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the service. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. following the service for a time of fellowship at Strikers Corner in Stewartville, MN.
