Mildred Dora Grabau

Mildred "Schwier" Grabau, 101, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Spring Valley Care Center in Spring Valley, MN.

Mildred "Millie" was born May 15, 1916, in Fillmore County on the Schwier Family farm to Fred and Mary (Bicknese) Schwier, and attended school at St. Johns Lutheran Parochial School and Wykoff High School.  She married Walter Mackey in 1936 and raised 3 children. On November 5, 1955, she married Gerhardt Grabau and the couple made their home on his farm retiring in 1987 and moving to Wykoff.  The couple moved to the Spring Valley Estates in February 2007, and then into the care center in August 2007. Millie was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church her entire life and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and family and church activites.

She is survived by one daughter, Murlie Ann Davis of Gilbert, Arizona, daugher-in-law Patty (Steve - deceased) Mackey Davis of Lime Springs, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Brian Davis, Steven Davis, Gregory Davis, Jeff Mackey, Kim Mackey Rathbun, Karla Mackey Tart, Jennifer Davis, Jason Davis, Darla Grabau Oeltjen, and Michael Wells; as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gerhardt, daughter LaRae (Mackey) Wells and son Dennis Mackey; her parents, six brothers Alvin, Walter, Raymond, Lawrence, Lyman, Irvin and 2 sisters Irene and Dorothy; and one grandson Scott Grabau.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff with visitation at the church  one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
