Funeral service for Richard Haugstad will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday October 7, 2017 at Preston United Methodist Church in Preston with Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held 1-3 P.M. Saturday October 7, 2017 prior to the service.
Richard D. Haugstad age 68 of Viroqua, Wisconsin, a former Rochester business owner, lost his 11 year battle with cancer on October 4, 2017.
Richard Duane Haugstad was born May 22, 1949 to Johnnie and Marian Haugstad in Preston, MN. A 1967 graduate of Preston High School, achieved his Bachelor of Science degree from Winona State University in 1972. He worked as a production and later sales manager for Babcock Swine from 1973 – 1980. He then owned and operated several auto dealerships in Minnesota, Missouri, and Kansas. He later became an agent which led to speculating in Real Estate. He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and most of all his horses and dog Jake. He is best known for his many friends and putting a smile on their faces with his great sense of humor.
Richard is survived by his sister Leann Daugherty of Rochester, MN, his brother Robert Haugstad of Pennsylvania, the love of his life Jean Haakenson, and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Marian, sister Barbara, and brother-in-law Craig Daugherty.
