Thelma K Kress

Funeral services for Thelma K. Kress will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday  March 21, 2017 at the Dexter United Methodist Church with Pastor Jon Marburger officiating. Burial will be in the Dexter Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1hr prior to the service at the church.

Thelma Kress, age 98, of Grand Meadow died Friday March 17, 2017 at the Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN

She was born December 3, 1918 at Dickens, IA to Clarence and Cora (Rasmussen) Hargrave. She grew up on the farm and attended one room country school and high school in Dickens. On August 20, 1936 she was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” Kress in Sibley, IA and together they farmed in the Dickens, IA area until 1943 when they moved to a farm near Webb, IA and in 1957 they moved to a farm near Grand Meadow, MN.  In 1959 they left the farm and moved into Dexter, MN. Thelma always helped on the farm she enjoyed Traveling and fishing and was a talented seamstress. Her family was always the most important thing in her life. She was a very active member of the Dexter United Methodist Church and was a member of the Grand Meadow Senior Center.

Thelma is survived by her children Gary (Mary) Kress of Dodge Center, MN and Kay Ann (Tracy) Whitney of Mapleton, MN, 5 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and 1 sister Donna Kladstrup of Burnet, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, and two brothers.
