Truman I. Hadoff

Truman Hadoff passed away at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI on January 7, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 12 at Whalan Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services. Burial will be held at the Whalan Lutheran Church cemetery.

Truman Ivan Hadoff was born November 28, 1928 to Tom and Cora (Sveen) Hadoff in rural Whalan, MN. He graduated from Lanesboro High School and attended Luther College in Decorah, IA for one year.

On December 27, 1947 he married Betty Holmen of LeRoy, MN. They farmed with his father. He then became the postmaster in Whalan for a short time. When an opening came up he transferred and became the rural mail carrier. Along with being the mail carrier he continued farming on his home farm. Truman retired in 1992.

As a young man Truman enjoyed playing softball. He also loved to bowl. He bowled with a team from Lanesboro for many years and later bowled in Rushford. He also loved watching sports on TV. He was a life long member of Whalan Lutheran Church.

Truman is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty of Whalan, MN, his children Karen (Jim) Draper of Lanesboro, MN, Steven (Diane) Hadoff of Preston, MN, Craig (Theresa) Hadoff of Albertville, MN, and Todd Hadoff of Chatfield, MN; his grandchildren Stefanie (Gary), Brandon (Elizabeth), Brent (Karin), Bryan (Mallory), Jeremy (Angela), Kale, and Madison; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters Adah Fowler and Char (Sheldon) Gee; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Julie, his daughter-in-law Carol, his sisters Imogene, Genevieve, and an infant sister Shirley, and his brothers-in-law Sam, Bob, and Matt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
