Alton Peterson

Alton Peterson, age 87, passed away on Thursday October 1, 2020 at home in Cresco, Iowa.

According to his wishes, Altons’s body was gifted to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.  Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, IA, is in charge of arrangements.

Alton Peterson was born on March 12, 1933 to Oliver and Annie (Solien) Peterson in Iowa City, Iowa.  He attended elementary and high school in the Highlandville area.  On June 8, 1957, Alton married Eldie Flatland in Las Vegas, NV.  To this union, three children were born, Kerry, Mark, and Julie.  After many years in the banking industry in the Los Angeles and San Francisco area, Alton and Eldie moved to Paso Robles, CA.  In Paso Robles, Alton’s real passion was landscaping and maintenance, he truly enjoyed working with the earth. Alton and Eldie moved to Cresco, IA in 2004.  He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed getting together with friends and family.

Alton was survived by his sons, Kerry Peterson of Cresco, IA, Mark (Ronda) Peterson of Paso Robles, CA, and daughter, Julie Ringer of Cresco, IA, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Lorraine Ellickson of Marietta, CA, Carol Bolson of Decorah, IA, one brother, Robert Peterson of Cedar Falls, IA, and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, sisters, Beulah Shindelar and Sylvia Roberts.
