Bruce R. Born, 54, of Chatfield, MN died on Monday, October 11, 2021, at his home after battling Metastatic Melanoma cancer.
Bruce Richard Born was born July 5, 1967 to Richard and Jeanne (Golberg) Born. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, MN in 1986. Bruce started a career in the hospitality industry at the age of 14 and became an accomplished chef. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, traveling, hiking, and spending time with family. Bruce loved celebrating holidays, especially Christmas. He started a tradition of baking and decorating cookies with his son, nieces, nephews, and friends children, this continued to become an annual adult party. He donated most of the cookies to charitable organizations around the area. He was a true Minnesota Vikings fan and was very competitive at playing Cribbage. He also loved nature and animals. Bruce will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Bruce is survived by his fiancé Carie Chihak of Chatfield, MN, son Richard (Erial) Born of Rochester, MN, step-children Nathan Chihak of Toledo, OH and Alyssa Chihak of Chatfield, granddaughter Bella, his devoted black lab Haley, parents Richard and Jeanne Born of Stewartville, MN, siblings Jim Born and Linda Born both of Rochester, Mike Born of Wykoff, MN, Dave Born of Dodge County, MN, and Cynthia (Jeff) Gallas of Rochester.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Charlie’s Eatery & Pub at 1654 US Hwy 52 in Rochester, MN on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 2-5 p.m., with a remembrance from 4:30-5 p.m.
The family would like to thank Bruce’s team of doctors at the Mayo Clinic and Seasons Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care for Bruce. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Autism research or cancer research.
