Daniel D. Smith

Daniel D. Smith, age 65, of Cresco, IA, passed away in his home on June 11, 2021.

Daniel Duane Smith was born on May 19, 1956, to Dennis and Joan (Buhr) Smith.  He graduated in 1975 from Crestwood High School.  He worked over 29 yrs at the Howard County Courthouse as the Mainentance Supervisor.  Daniel enjoyed spending his extra time outside, enjoying nature and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and participated in the Cresco Wildlife Club. Dan's door was always open and he was a great friend to many people.  Daniel will be especially missed by his five grandkids who he loved dearly.

Daniel is survived by his step-dad Don , children Justin (Kayla) Smith of Cresco, IA, Andrew (Trisha) Smith of Ossian, IA; grandchildren Kyleigh Smith, London Greer,  Colton Smith, Brayden Smith, and Trinity Smith; siblings Deb Rima, Jane McKernan, Steve Smith, Rick Smith, Jan Henkes, Donna Fontana, Terry Smith, and Russ Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Anthony, and step-mother Norma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary gifts be given to be collected for a monument in Daniel’s name. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Vernon Springs Park (by the boat dock), in Cresco, IA, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. for family and friends to celebrate and reminisce on Daniel’s life.
