DellRoy J. Tienter

DellRoy James Tienter, 76, of Spring Valley, MN, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Mayo Clinic- St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

DellRoy was born to Floyd and Virginia (Maricle) Tienter on June 7, 1944. At the age of 18, he joined the Army on December 14, 1962. He was trained at Fort Knox in Kentucky. DellRoy served as a vehicle tech in Kentucky, Germany, Vietnam, and Fort Carson in Colorado. He was granted an honorable discharge. After his service to his country, he worked various jobs including factory work, pouring cement, and driving truck. On October 21, 1967 he married Coquella “Coco” Moon of Fillmore at the Assembly of God Church in Spring Valley.

DellRoy worked at the Spring Valley hospital as an orderly assisting doctors, nurses, and patients. His last employment was as a custodian at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He was injured while sandbagging a Mayo Clinic building during the Rochester flood of 1978. He later became disabled due to this injury. When his health allowed, DellRoy enjoyed fishing with his wife, collecting eagles and coins, and driving around the country with his dog, Chiquita.

DellRoy is survived by his children DelRae Tienter and DellMar Tienter of Spring Valley, two sisters Donna (Truman) Olson of Grand Meadow, MN and Mavis Jordan of Orion, IL, brothers Roger Tienter of Ostrander, MN, and Jerry Tienter of Fridley, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Coco, and his brothers Lester Tienter and John Tienter.
