Dorothy M. Hammes

Dorothy M. Hammes, age 98, of Spring Valley, MN, died Monday, October 26, 2020, at Rochester Rehab and Living Center in Rochester, MN.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2020, at First English Lutheran Church Spring Valley, MN, with Pastor Loel Wessel officiating.  Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery Chatfield, MN.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. 

Dorothy Marie Rolli was born August 31, 1922, daughter of John “Jack” and Sophie (Linnemeyer) Rolli in rural Wykoff, MN.  She was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff.  On June 14, 1944, Dorothy married William Hammes.  Dorothy was a very active member of her church.  She enjoyed shopping and picking out accessories for her outfits.  When asked, Dorothy would tell you she had a very good life.  She was most proud of her family and the lives they built. 

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Janet (David) Sickle of Rochester, MN, son Dr. William (Diane) Hammes of Jordan, MN; grandchildren Jeffrey (Stefanie) Sickle of Rochester, Matthew (Jennifer) Sickle of Rochester, Kristin Sickle of Rochester, Erin Hammes of Duluth, MN, and Joseph (Christi) Hammes of Zillah, WA; 5 great grandchildren Mason, Alayna, Aubrey, Maximus, and Dorothy.

She was preceded in death by her husband William on November 4, 1989, and granddaughters Kathryn and Laura Hammes.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced and masks are required.
