Elaine M Vsetecka

Elaine Mary Vsetecka, age 64, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at MercyOne New Hampton Medical Center, in New Hampton, Iowa. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Parish on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., with a one hour visitation from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m., Father Jacob Rouse will be officiating, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. 

Elaine Mary Vsetecka was born on June 22, 1957 in Cresco, IA.  She was the daughter of Cletus and Wilma Vsetecka.  She was raised on a farm southeast of Cresco and was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA.  It was there that she made her First Communion and Confirmation.  Elaine attended school in Cresco and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1975.  Elaine was a sweet and happy child.  She helped on the farm and also enjoyed working at Seneca Foods in Rochester, MN.

Elaine always loved an adventure.  She loved going for a drive and especially driving herself.  Wherever she went, she loved to strike up a conversation and laugh out loud with everyone she met.  She was so proud of all her nieces and nephews, and now her great nieces and great nephews, and all of their accomplishments.  Elaine loved word puzzles, reading, old movies, the Cresco fair, onion rings, bingo, and Christmas.  Elaine made the Christmas card games so exciting and entertaining.

Elaine will be remembered by the nieces and nephews with help with the spelling tests and the teasing banter between her and her oldest nephew.  She was so thrilled with the arrival of each of her great nieces and great nephews.  Elaine was opinionated, loyal, stubborn, generous, and the best sister.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Dale Vsetecka.

She is survived by 3 sisters Jan (Doug) Baker of Lanesboro, MN, Patricia (Steve) Elsbernd of Ridgeway, IA, Lisa (Darryl) Langreck of Ossian, IA; friend Walter Hoopman; nieces and nephews Chris, Jenny, Darla, Anne, Jay, Katie, Erin, Kendra, Nicole, Anna and Kelly; great nieces and nephews Tony, Claire, Marian, Francis, Arthur and Millie.
