Georgia Bailey Obituary

Georgia “Georgie” Hall (House) (Bailey) received her angel wings on January 8, 2022 at Cottagewood in Rochester, MN.

She was born on November 1, 1932 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland to William Hall Senior and Pauline (Thomas) Hall. She was the 3rd of 4 children. Georgia graduated from Washington D.C. High School and received her license in cosmetology. She met Marvin House in 1952 at a dance and they were married in 1953. They lived in D.C., Baltimore, and Cockeysville, Maryland before moving to Minnesota in 1958. During their 20 year marriage, they had 7 children. They later divorced. She also married and later divorced Richard Bailey. Georgia was a homemaker and later worked for Holiday Inn South in Rochester before retiring.

Georgia is survived by her children Paula (Roger) Grabau-Friedt of Rochester, MN, Frank (Teresa) House of Spring Valley, MN, Vanessa (Jay) Bailey of McLoud, OK, Nancy (Mike) Hanson of Racine, MN, and Mike House of McLoud, OK, son-in-law Jerry (Pam) Wendt, sister Lorraine Tucker of Hagerstown, MD, sister-in-law Wanda House of Spring Valley, MN, 19 grandchildren, 39 ½ great-grandchildren, 6 ½ great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, son John F.K. House in 1982, daughter Valerie (House) Wendt in 2013, both husbands Marvin House in 2020 and Richard Bailey, son-in-law Mark Ekstrom in 2020, great-grandson Andrew Friedt in 2020, brothers William Hall Jr. and Donald Hall, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ernest Tucker, Leo and Ruby House, Ruth and Don Bacon, Lyle and Marge and Vera House in 2020, Dorothy and Don Boyum, Helen and Len Sr. Leutink, and Lloyd House.

Georgia was known for her love of her family, dancing with her friend Connie, and going to the casino with Wanda. Even when her health wouldn’t allow her to walk, she danced in her bed. She used to say, “I can’t walk very well, but I can always dance!” Georgia was a strong and caring woman who survived many hurdles in her life, especially with her health. We were blessed to share her journey.
