Gladys M. Willis

Gladys M. (Schlampp) Willis, 80, of McIntire, IA, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018, at McIntire United Methodist Church in McIntire, IA, with Dr. Donna Ihns officiating.  Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery rural McIntire.  Visitation will be held 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 407 Woodland Ave. Riceville, IA. 

Gladys Mary Schlampp was born on October 11, 1937, in rural McIntire, IA, daughter of William “Roy” Schlampp and Adeline Cleone Grace.  She attended school in McIntire.  On August 24, 1962, Gladys married Russell T. Willis in the United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, MN.  Gladys was a homemaker and farm wife.  She belonged to Royal Neighbors of America and the McIntire United Methodist Church.  Gladys loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved playing cards, watching game shows, and soap operas.  Gladys took pride in her yard and liked gardening, both flowers and vegetables.  She enjoyed going for rides looking at people’s yards. 

Gladys celebrated her 80th birthday last October with a surprise party thrown by her family and friends.

She is survived by her 8 daughters Carol Schlampp of McIntire, IA, Cheryl Schlampp of McIntire, IA, Carrie Jo (Tom) Schneider of Taopi, MN, Lilly (Mark) Sorenson of Rose Creek, MN, Louise (Ron) Schneider of McIntire, IA, Linda (Gary) Schneider of Osage, IA, Connie (Joe) Smith of Stacyville, IA, and Laura Willis of McIntire, IA; her sister Carolyn White; grandchildren Jason, Tommy, and Melissa Schneider, Micheal, Ethan, and Sarah Sorenson, Jessica and Jenna Schneider, Christopher and Andrew Schneider, and Joey, Jessica, and Jaime Smith; great grandchildren Cheyanne Jax, Gracelynn Schneider, Jameson Mogren, and Claire Schneider; brother-in-law Jerald Willis; sisters-in-law Mary Willis and Donna McPhail; and her special dog companion Marley.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell in 2008, her brother Charles, sister Eunice in infancy, and brother William Schlampp.
