Jerry J Jones

Jerry James Jones, 74, of Watkins, IA, died at home surrounded by family, on Friday, January 20, 2023, after fighting lung cancer.

Jerry was born on October 19, 1948 to Donald (Don) and Katheryn (Kay) Jones, in Lime Springs, IA. Jerry later moved South and settled in Watkins. He worked many years for Whirlpool and ran his own 40 acre farm.  Jerry enjoyed the occasional fishing trips, hunting every year, any western he had time to watch, bird watching, Sudoku puzzles and spending time with his family. 

Jerry is survived by his daughters Erin (Clarence) Brunston of Fordyce, AR, Katie (Phillip) Mixdorf of Cedar Rapids, IA, Amanda Jones of Watkins, IA, his brother Russell Jones of Chester, IA, sisters Sandy (Tim) Good of Canton, MN, Wendy (Jim) Richardson of Canton, MN, niece Sara Burke, nephew Evan Richardson, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. 

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and 2 grandsons, Jayson Jones and Shawn Mixdorf. 

A visitation for Jerry will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hindt Funeral Home in Le Roy, MN.  A small gathering of family and friends will gather for a Graveside Service at 2:30 pm at Chester Hill Cemetery in Chester, IA.
