Jewell H. Ruud

Funeral services for Jewell H. Ruud will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday October 8, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with Rev Mark VanHouse and Rev Joe Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held for 1hr prior to the service at the church on the day of the service.

Jewell Ruud, age 88, of Spring Valley died Thursday October 4, 2018 at the Stewartville Care Center.

Jewell Bauch was born September 18, 1930 in Cresco, Iowa to Henry and Tena Bauch. She attended school in Le Roy, MN and was united in marriage to Rodney Ruud on March 5, 1948 and together had three daughters; Rita, Kathy and Marcia. Jewell worked for many years at the IGA Grocery Store in Spring Valley and for Hillside Home in later years. She served as an usher for Saturday Night worship services at Our Saviors in Spring Valley and also assisted and ushered for funerals at Our Saviors. She also volunteered at the nursing home. Jewell enjoyed fishing, shopping, going to the casino, being around people but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She always had the “Best” Christmases.

She is survived by her three daughters: Rita (Wayne) Fenske of Reads Landing, Kathy (Bill) Foster and Marcia (Tony) Ptacek both of Spring Valley, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rodney in 1990, a granddaughter Michele  “Shelly”, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and her aunt and uncle  that raised her; Nettie & Henry Rosenthol.

Memorial may be sent to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the activities department at the Stewartville Care Center or the donor’s choice.
