Kathryn Y. Papach

Kathryn Papach, age 98, passed away on July 17, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Eau Claire, WI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held  11:00 AM on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, Iowa with Father Jerry Kopacek officiating.  Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery McIntire, Iowa.  Public visitation will be held at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral.

Katherine (Kathryn) Yvonne (Hoffman) Papach was born August 2, 1922, to John Frederick and Katherine (Cross) Hoffman in Wilmette, Illinois, just north of Chicago. She attended eight years in St. Francis Xavier School in Wilmette. Kathryn graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. She married Charles A. Papach in 1941. They moved to McIntire, Iowa and made their home there. Kathryn was a member of St. Mel’s parish in McIntire for 50 years until it closed in 1992. She then became a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, making quilts, and the birthday club she belonged to for many years.

She is survived by one son Rex A. Papach of Mason City, IA; four daughters Marie (Doug) Pyle of Lewisville, TX, Margaruite (James) Kapinos of Alford, FL, Frances (Marvin) Kirschner of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Anita (Tim) Weiland of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; grandchildren (Kevin, Ronald, Kristine, Carly, David, Chase, Katherine, Brittany, Charles, Laura, Susan and Steven); three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on October 26, 1984; daughter, Janet, in 2019, and step-daughter, Bonnie, in 2003; sons-in-law, Jerry Lubbert and James Kapinos; granddaughter Victoria, great-great-granddaughter Zeta, and seven siblings and their spouses Annabelle (William Hala), Robert, Frances (Chris Danby), John, Leonard (Grace), Donald (Helen), and Frederick (Helen).
