Leland "Bud" F. McCarville

Leland “Bud” McCarville, 86, of Cresco, IA, died Monday, December 14, 2020, at Accura Healthcare of Cresco.

Leland Francis “Bud” McCarville was born January 2, 1934, son of Leo and Theresa (Reynolds) McCarville, in Howard County, Iowa.  On August 13, 1956, Bud married Jean M. Ollendieck at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Throughout his life, Bud had several long time jobs.  He worked as a milkman delivering milk for 35 years, was in the real estate business for 40 years, and operated his own auction business, McCarville Auction Company, for 45 years.  He was inducted into the Iowa Auctioneers’ Hall of Fame in 1996.  Bud also gave back to his community by serving as a volunteer Fireman for 35 years.

Bud was a member of Notre Dame Parish, Knights of Columbus, and was an Iowa and National Auctioneer member.  When Bud wasn’t working or volunteering he enjoyed watching sports.  He liked to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, sometimes arriving 2 hours early to get “his spot.”  He was a big fan, and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, and Green Bay Packers.     

Bud will be missed by his wife of 64 years Jean of Cresco; children Steve (Kathy) McCarville, Deborah (Dennis) Sobolik, Ricky McCarville, Daniel “Duck” McCarville, Brenda (Tom) Kubik, Carol (Dennis) Stika, and Connie (David) Kovarik all of Cresco; grandchildren Ryan (Carrie) McCarville of Cresco, Kim McCarville of Cresco, Kyle (Amber) McCarville of Cresco, Kelly (Samantha) McCarville of Cresco, Dustin Sobolik of Swea City, IA, Derek (Christy) Sobolik of Cresco, Cody (Kari) Stika of Paullina, IA, Casey (Darcy) Stika of La Porte City, IA, Kelsey (Adam) Nelson of Cresco, Heather (Kraig) Johnson of Cresco, Stephanie (Brad) Sovereign of Cresco, Kayla (Chris) Sullivan of Cresco, Ashley (Ethan) Kraft of Cresco, Zachary (Melinda) Kovarik of Rochester, MN, Erica (Tyler Rinnels) Kovarik of Cresco; 22 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; siblings Pat Ratz of Cedar Rapids, IA, David (Donita) McCarville of Waterloo, IA, Dale (Becky) McCarville of Cedar Rapids, and Jean Ann (Bob) Milne of Cedar Rapids, IA, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Theresa, father and mother-in-law Ben and Irma Ollendieck, grandson Andy Stika, infant brother Robert, brother Donald McCarville, and by several brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephew.

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020, from 3-7 p.m. at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco, IA. Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Deacon Jim Zajicek and Fr. Jacob Rouse officiating and burial in Calvary Cemetery.
