Lester D. Miland

Lester Miland, age 79, of Spring Valley, MN died September 08, 2022 at the Spring Valley Care Center in Spring Valley.  He was born on May 22, 1943 to Orville and Rose Miland in Fillmore County, MN. When he was young he attended country school and then attended and graduated from Spring Valley High School. He married Nancy Kahl on February 20, 1965 and in the 25 years they spent together they raised four boys, Davis, Kenny, Phillip and Sheldon. Known to many as Louie, he enjoyed raising coon hounds and coon hunting, he raised and trained many horses over the years. Louie farmed and milked cows as well as delivering milk for the Racine Creamery as well as delivering eggs. He also worked as a meat cutter for Calvin Kahl of Grand Meadow and also for Rudy Rosenthal at the Spring Valley Locker. His final job was for Mayo Clinic where he spent 30 years and 4 months before retiring.  Louie has 5 grandchildren from his sons; Samantha, Logan, Taylor, Allie and Wyatt and two great-grandchildren, Briella and Hudson. Louie is also survived by his brothers Ron and Jerry Miland and a sister Patricia Bucknell as well as his wife Mavis who he married on September 14, 2002. Lester was also blessed to have the love from Mavis’s children, her son James, and daughters Cindi, Shannon and Amanda. Grandchildren- Michael, David, Adam, Taylor, Kailey, Alyssa, Jordan, Brennan, Mackinze, Macie, Mathew and Miles, and great-grandchildren Kater, Harper and Rowen.

Dad will be missed but we will always be blessed by the memories he gave us all.

A visitation for Lester will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, MN.
