Lyle D. Strike

Lyle D. Strike, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Riceville Family Care Center.

Lyle Dean Strike was born June 29, 1952, to Lewis and Angeline (Kurash) Strike in Cresco, Iowa.  He was a graduate of Riceville High School.  Lyle enlisted in the United States Army in 1971 until 1973.  He was stationed in Germany part of the time.  In 2022, Lyle received a “Quilt of Valor” which he appreciated very much.  Lyle was proud to be a veteran.  After military service he had a couple of jobs including working for the Railroad, before working for 30 years at Hormel Meat Packing Plant in Austin, MN.  Lyle always worked second and third shift so after work he could help his brother with farm work.  After retirement, Lyle had a leg amputated which made his mobility very difficult. 

Lyle is survived by his brother Dave, sister Joyce (Raymond), sister-in-law Judy, several nieces and nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his father Lewis, mother Angeline, brothers Gene and Dennis, and sisters Bernice and Sharon.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, MN; with burial and military honors at 1:00 p.m. at Saratoga Township Cemetery in Saratoga, IA with Chaplain Al Polito officiating.
