Marcia Carman Obituary

Marcia Marcella Carman, age 86, passed away at home on May 2, 2020 due to complications of Myelofibrosis, surrounded by her loving family.

Marcia was born on March 10, 1934 to Charles and Lettie (Saathoff) Martens in Clare, Ia. She was baptized and confirmed at St Johns Lutheran Church in Palmer, Ia. She attended area country school before graduating from Gilmore City High School.
Marcia was united in marriage to Gerald Carman on June 1, 1952 at St Johns. She continued working with her father on his farm until Gerald was discharged from the army in 1954. The couple moved to rural Grand Meadow, Minnesota in Aug, 1954 where they farmed and raised five children. They moved into town in August 1970, and Marcia started as a cook in the Grand Meadow school which she enjoyed for 22 yrs.
Marcia was an active member of the GM Lutheran church women’s groups, directing choir, teaching Sunday school, and weekly Bible study & quilting group.
Her deep commitment to all things creative inspired all those she touched with her enthusiasm as was shown in her weekly painting group. Her proudest endeavor was her contribution (with close friend Susie) to the Meadowfest Art Show where she encouraged many young and old artists to participate.
Marcia’s many hobbies included painting, drawing, gardening, baking, country and gospel music, but especially enjoyed her many insightful discussions with her children, grandchildren, and all her other family and friends.
