Marilyn Wheeler, age 84, of Le Roy, MN died Monday, November 9, 2020 at home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2020, at First Presbyterian Church in Le Roy, MN, with Pastor John Kerr Officiating. Burial will be in Le Roy Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the First Presbyterian Church in Le Roy, MN from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Marilyn Kempe was born March 2, 1936 to Theodore and Gesine (Fastenau) Kempe. She attended Le Roy High School and graduated in 1955. On December 21, 1963, Marilyn married Harlo Wheeler at the Le Roy Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born: Duane, Brenda, and Diane. Marilyn was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Le Roy. Throughout the years, she worked as an egg candler at Mendalson-Halling, in the kitchen at Le Roy-Ostrander School, and as a homemaker. Marilyn enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, baking (her apple pies were legendary), as well as visiting and socializing while working on puzzles. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Harlo; her children Duane (Nicky) Wheeler, Brenda (Leonard) Soltau, Diane (Joe) Lunning all of Le Roy, MN; grandchildren Amy (Ryan) Rickerl of Riceville, IA, Angela (Bryon) Meyer of Stewartville, MN, Craig Wheeler of Le Roy, MN, Emily Wheeler of Le Roy, MN, Kyle Soltau of Le Roy, MN, Kayla (Cordell) Stockdale of Le Roy, MN, Shelby (Travis) Raddatz of Ostrander, MN, and Ethan Lunning of Le Roy, MN; great-granddaughters Addison Raddatz and Harper Stockdale; siblings Tillie Speer, Mary Ann Freerksen, Joe (Alice) Kempe all of Le Roy, MN; and sisters-in-law Mardell Kempe and Betty Ann Kempe both of Le Roy, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons Derek Soltau and Josh Wheeler, brothers Karl Kempe and Ben Kempe, and brothers-in-law Edward Speer and Richard Freerksen.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced and masks are required.
