Martha L. Dawley

Martha L. Dawley, age 76, of Cresco, IA, died on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Accura Healthcare in Cresco, IA. 
Martha Louise Dawley was born August 27, 1944 to Roscoe and Ellen (Gabrielson) Dawley.  She was married to Bruce Hanson on May 18, 1961.  They were the parents of Susanne Marie, Kenneth Allen, and Kevin Lee Hanson.  They later divorced.  Martha worked at Control Data in Spring Grove, and at Fox River in Osage.  She was an excellent baker of homemade angel food cakes, breads, pies, and her famous buns.  Martha was an avid gardener of vegetables and flowers.  She grew many gardens of gladiolas, irises, and other flowers.  She was a master of canning.  Martha enjoyed making and donating quilts, doing puzzles, word searches, and listening to country music.  She was always worrying about her family. 

Martha is survived by her two children Susanne Blaess of Mabel, MN, and Kenneth Hanson of Canton, MN; nine grandchildren Brandon Blaess, Melissa (Ryan) Abshier, Brett Blaess, Molly (Joe) Blaess, Benjamin Blaess, Dylan Hanson, Wyatt Hanson, Shelby Hanson, and Skylar Fry; four great-grandchildren Riley Abshier, Clara Jensen, Daphne Jensen, and Gracelynn Hanson; ten siblings Ruth Brownfield, Mary Dawley, Ronald (Beverly) Dawley, Rebecca (Steven) Newman, Mark (Edith) Dawley, Steven Dawley, Daniel Dawley, Michael Dawley, Jeffrey (Gwen) Dawley, and John Dawley; along with many nieces and nephews. 

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe in 2003, and Ellen in 2015; her brothers Lester in infancy and James in 2013; her son Kevin in 2017; son-in-law Mark Blaess in 2016, grandparents Gilbert and Louise Gabrielson, and Charlie and Cordelia Dawley; sisters-in-law Gloria Dawley, Jill Dawley, and Julie Dawley; and brother-in-law James Brownfield.

A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Bluffton Cemetery.
