Marvin R. Miner, age 96, of Rose Creek, MN died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in Spring Valley, MN.

Marvin Ray Miner was born on February 21, 1924 in Ventura, IA to Ray and Mary (Stites) Miner. He graduated from Austin High School in 1941. He farmed before being drafted into the Army, and then returned to farm with his dad following his service in Japan during WWII. Marvin was united in marriage to Patricia Bloom on January 27, 1952 in Sargeant, MN. He worked at the factory for Minneapolis-Moline & Oliver Farm Equipment. Marvin and Patricia moved to Rose Creek in 1963, where he worked at the Rose Creek Lumberyard. He later worked at Mayo Clinic, where he retired after 16 years. Marvin was a 75 year member of the American Legion & VFW. Marvin enjoyed being a grandfather. His grandkids were his life and were all very important to him. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, dancing, especially waltzes and polkas, and being surrounded by “exceptionally beautiful women.”

Marvin is survived by his wife Patricia Miner, his 6 children RaeAnn Peterson of Austin, MN JoEllen (Wayne) Isenberg of Spring Valley, MN, Carol (Craig) Callahan of Austin, MN, Doug (Danna) Miner of Terre Haute, IN, Sherilyn (Lynn) Miller of LeRoy, MN, and Wanda (Doug) Edge of Grand Meadow, MN, 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way, brother Skeeter (Shirley) Miner, 3 sisters Mary Mortenson, Merryelle Whitaker, and Milda (Dave) Weness, sister-in-law Joan Hegge, brother-in-law Darrell Bloom, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother Merritt, daughter-in-law Tracy Miner, son-in-law Daryl Peterson, 2 brothers Morris “Mike” (Grace) Miner and Maynard (Marlene) Miner, 2 sisters Meda (William) McCloud and Morna (Bill) Sathre.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service was held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 with Shirley Gangstad officiating at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Adams American Legion Post 146 at 321 W Main St Adams, MN 55909 or to the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum at 2450 540th St Granite Falls, MN 56241.
