Merle J. Felderman, age 92, of Dubuque, IA, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Hawkeye Care Center surrounded by his family.
Merle Joseph Felderman was born May 6, 1926, son of George and Mary (Bussan) Felderman. He was a Dubuque Senior High School graduate. On October 14, 1944, during a candle light ceremony Merle married Jeane Lee Henkel at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The couple honeymooned in Chicago at the Edgewater Beach Hotel.
Merle was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He took great pride throughout his career as Street Commissioner for the City of Dubuque. Merle made lifelong friends with many of his coworkers. He enjoyed getting together with his Friday morning breakfast club and reminiscing. Merle’s hobbies included golfing, card games, and traveling. One of his favorite places to vacation was a family resort in Tomahawk, WI. Merle was an accomplished man in all aspects of life and always had a positive outlook. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving Merle is son Richard (Shirley) Felderman Lake Mary, FL, daughters Connie (Garry) Knight Melbourne, Australia, Susan Hudek Dubuque, IA, and Patti (Jim) Meyer Bettendorf, IA, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Jeane Lee Felderman, daughter Vickie Lee Felderman, granddaughter Abigail Jeane Meyer, and brothers Ray, Pat, and George Felderman.
Merle’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who touched his life, including Home Instead Senior Care, Jill Thul, Hawkeye Care Center, and Hospice of Dubuque.
Visitation to be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00, on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 1425 Iowa St., Dubuque with Father Greg Bahl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque.
