Monica Reicks Obituary

Monica Anne Reicks, age 88, of Cresco, Iowa passed away peacefully April 18, 2020 at Evans Memorial Home. A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Notre Dame Catholic Church.

Monica Anne Reicks was born March 22, 1932 near Elma, Iowa to Milo and Verona Conry Lowe.  Monica attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and graduated in 1951 from Assumption High School in Cresco. She worked at the “Black and White Cafe” following graduation. On April 22, 1952, Monica was united in marriage to Dell Reicks at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. To this union, 8 children were born.  Together they made their home on a farm north of Cresco and raised their family.

In 1987, they moved to Cresco due to Dell’s health. Monica worked at the Cresco Meal Site for 2 years. She then received her CNA and was employed at Evans Memorial Home for 18 ½ years.

 Monica enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, dancing and traveling in her earlier years. She was active in the Alter and Rosary Society of Saint Joseph Church. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards, listening to audio books and especially spending time with family. She was well known for her famous potato salad!

Monica is survived by her children, Kathy Tentis of Kellogg, Minnesota; Karen (Jeff) Fraser of Naples, Florida; Tom (Patty) Reicks of Shakopee, Minnesota; Jane (Gary) Fjelstul of Ridgeway, Iowa, Mary (Gary) Ludeking of Ridgeway, Iowa, Carol (Kevin) Kovarik of Protivin, Iowa, Robert (Barb) Reicks of Cresco, Iowa, and Patrick (Jette Berkin) Reicks of Cresco Iowa; grandchildren Matt (Elise) Tentis, Seth (Tara) Tentis, Kelsey (Gage) Kehler, Adam Fraser, Sarah (Phil) Kreh, Kyle (Jennie) Reicks, Erin (Eric) Plemel, Rachel (Ben) Jongbloedt, Scott Fjelstul, Andy (Natasha) Ludeking, Mike (Carol) Ludeking, Paula (Josh) Sonnabend, Stephanie, Nathan, Lauren, and Kristen Reicks, step granddaughters Misty Kerndt, Cherrie Christopher and Jodie Moe, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 step great-granddaughter, sister-in-law Jean Lowe and brother-in-law Denis Reicks. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband Dell on November 13, 2002; parents, Milo and Verona Lowe; brothers Francis Lowe, John Lowe and, in infancy, Joseph Lowe and James Lowe; son-in-law Tony Tentis; and twin great-granddaughters in infancy Raelyn and Kaylee Fjelstul.
