Shelva Giordano Obituary

Shelva Jean (King) Giordano, 78, of Stewartville, MN, walked happily into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle with bladder cancer and ultimately gave her peace.

Shelva Jean King was born on February 13, 1942 in Austin, MN to Dave and Edna (Linnemeyer) King. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1960. Shelva went to Luther College for one year then graduated from Rochester Junior College in 1963. She then went to work at Mayo Clinic. She married Thomas Giordano on July 27, 1968, at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, MN. The couple lived in Hopewell, Virginia, when Tom was stationed there in the Army. In 1969, the couple moved to Stewartville, MN where they raised two children, Tony and Tania. Shelva was employed by Jensen Chiropractic as a bookkeeper from 1989 to 2003. At that time, a new owner changed the name to Advanced Body Chiropractic where Shelva continued to work until 2013. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville, MN, where she taught Sunday school and served for the SALT program. Shelva was blessed with three grandchildren whom she loved dearly and spent a lot of time with them.

She enjoyed reading, Sudoku puzzles, loved shopping and berry picking with her three nieces. Shelva’s hobbies also included: listening to Elvis radio in the car. She was a wonderful cook and baker- her grandkids and family especially loved her sugar cookies. Shelva enjoyed being outside planting flowers. Shelva especially enjoyed her mother/daughter weeks in Minneapolis with Tania, staying overnight, shopping, visiting a salon for a massage and just hanging out. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved decorating her home. Shelva had deep faith in God her Savior and loved reading her daily devotions.

Shelva is survived by her husband, Tom, her son, Tony (Evelyn) Giordano of Stewartville, MN, and her daughter Tania (Josh) Giordano of Minneapolis, MN. She leaves behind three beloved grandchildren, Megan, Tyler and Kinsey of Stewartville. She will also be dearly missed by her sister, Eloise “Lala” (Ron) Neis of Spring Valley, MN, and her three nieces, Pam (Ray) Waugh and Kris Henke of Racine, MN, and Jodie (Jim) Jacobson of Dexter, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Scott.
