Richard "Tom" Thomas Henke

Richard Thomas (Tom) Henke passed into Heaven on January 29, 2016, surrounded by his wife and loving daughters. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle with cancer and ultimately gave him peace.

Tom was born to Donald and Margaret Henke in Stewartville, MN, on July 7, 1955. He graduated from Stewartville High School and enlisted in the Navy.  He served from 1973 to 1977, where he was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. His time on the USS William V Pratt took him to the Mediterranean Sea and along the coast of South America. After being discharged, Tom was a mechanic at Ace Trucking until he started working at the Franklin Heating Station, power plant for Mayo Clinic, in 1981, as a boiler operator.  He retired from the Mayo Clinic in December 2014.
 

Tom was blessed with a loving family which meant the world to him. He married Kristine Anne Glynn, on September 12, 1981, in Stewartville, MN. They had three daughters whom Tom cherished.  Tom enjoyed being outdoors, especially to fish, and tinkering around in his shop. Especially dear to him were his grandsons Caleb, Jack and Luke.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kristine; his daughters Rachel Lemmer, Rebecca (Joel) Evink, and Hannah Henke; his grandsons Caleb Evink, Luke Evink, and Jack Lemmer.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
 

A memorial service will be Thursday, February 4, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 111 Second Ave. NE, Stewartville, with Rev. Lyle Fritsch officiating.  Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
